So after much waiting I finally got the Disco back from the garage today, in the end it needed a new Turbo Actuator apparently. They performed a smoke test thinking it was a cracked inlet manifold but after that came back all good, further investigation seems to have identified this was the culprit.
I got straight on with a couple of the jobs i wanted to tackle so fitted the front and rear light guards after a last minute purchase of some front guards from Bearmach and getting them next day
I also used plastadip to paint the front grill black which i am super pleased with and also fillet some diy brackets for some knockoff maxtrax
Next few jobs are to paint the side grill and badges with the black plastidip. Weld together a rear roof storage cradle similar to the loadlugger ones, then get some rock sliders and AT tyres on order. Oh and i have lift rods in the post

I would suggest using wingnuts instead of normal nuts. You don’t want to be messing about with a spanner to get the tracks off and on.
I would also suggest you only have the tracks on the roof when you will be going Offroad, not all the time.MY14 TDV6

I am not so impressed with the Terafirma/Mantec snorkel,it certainly seems to be more for show than function as it does not seem to create a waterproof seal between the intake and snorkel. I have added some additional seal between the body panel and the snorkel itself but feel like i need to do something to improve the seal between the air intake and the body pannel as there is a clear gap water could get between if coming up the inside. I am not planning on any serious water crossings where is will be submerged for any prolonged period of time but if a job is worth doing and all that
It's not a Snorkel, it's a Raised Air Intake.
For a snorkel you would've been best off with a Safari snorkel.

Some have made the RAI watertight (and therefore a snorkel), but I believe it involves some considerable work.
But then you have to factor in - if the water is that high, then chances are it would've penetrated the electronics.

I did think about wing nuts but I had these knocking about and always take a set of spanners with me when out. They also only take a turn or 2 with the spanner then all good by hand as I chased the treads with a die (or is it a tap )
As you say I only intend to put them on when going out offroad, the padlock just added a little piece of mind if leaving for a short period of time or if preparing the night before. I added a shovel mount the other day also so the same applies for that also.

Thnaks, its makes a massive difference. Just need to get the remaining side grill and badges painted with platidip in the next few days.
Some rock and tree sliders will also be on route soon and then paint the wheels black once i have AT tyres to go on also.

Thanks guys, it’s all made pretty simply really just a sheet a perforated steel from B&Q then steel box section welded to the same size, I added in some door latches to hold the drop down section in, I then used some larger angle iron for the sides which bolt to the holes for the handles.
One thing I would change is beefing up the sides, they are made from roughly 2mm steel and with the shape I cut them have lost some of their lateral strength so can wobble a bit but nothing that can’t be fixed.
I will grab a few more pictures tomorrow. I have a few more pictures to get after adding rock sliders, Goodyear duratrac’s, wheel spacers and painting the wheels black. I’m over the moon with it now!!

Sorry Paul yep the rear seats are still usable, I haven’t had an adult in the back (not that you could prob get in anyway ) but my 13 yr old son can sit in there without hitting his head.

Wheel spacers i seem to remember that they put more strain on wheel bearings leading to premature failure I am sure that someone with greater knowledge will be able to confirm or say not true but rather give you heads up
Does look good then I am biased as similar to mine
