Euro Tunnel Help
Does the D3 fit in the normal Euro Tunnel train, just booking it and I am not sure if it goes under the height barrier.

No problem, follow the over 1.85m sign (from memory).
Each train has low & high sections, you'll be in with the campervans, tintents & coaches.

Wouldn't (or shouldn't be) a problem, I've often booked under a certain vehicle then taken the LR instead. They have never had problems putting you in the right part of the train. Just booked Corsica hols with 75% off via Tesco Clubcard.

Have to say I always go in the low section. Just lock it in low = 1.84.. Then there is no waiting for the campers and tintents to start up at the other end. My other car is more of a pain – its got very little ground clearance and the nose hits if you try to go on the upper deck.
Eurotunnel in the morning – half term skiing. Would be nice to have some fresh snow to drive in but have to make do with sunshine – would be fun to try driving up some of the pistes!

Not as far as I know, just the tunnel and ferries. With discount like that it's not to be sniffed at. Just booked our crossing for summer hols for £35. Happy Days!

What is the current thinking on getting on Eurotunnel? Under or over 1.85m?
How do you lock the car in access height?

As long as you have no rack on stick it in access height BEFORE you go down the ramp to get onto the train and it fits in the double decker OK

On the D3 you lock it in access height by pressing and holding the lever downwards when its made it to access height - you'll get another bongSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

The truth of the matter is that the Disco will go in the low level carriages, it is tight and it makes you breath in a little but it will go.
However if you have a roof rack or box it will not and you have to go in with the coaches etc. Personally i always go in with the coaches as there is more room as a whole and its easier to wonder round.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I do the over 1.85 just to be safe. Could be expensive and embarrassing and since its the same price why risk it
Same price, less availability. So if you turn up at peak time hoping to get an earlier crossing you may be out of luck if booked as overheight

Both sides of the channel have 3 bars to measure the height. They are at slightly different heights, and some will move. If your LR does not have the "shark fin" then you will not touch any of them on access mode. Recommend it as much more likely to get an early train at busy times. If you do have fin, then you will rub the first one this side, none in France. On my previous D4 I only just touched it. With my current 2015 it pushes it quite hard. The bar is hanging loose so it does move, but I go very very gently. I always go under 1.85.d4 HSE
