Torque converter replacement

Had the D3 up for sale knowing that it will require a replacement TC
I have received several quotes to have this done - £1550 inc vat, £2000 plus vat, and £2500 plus vat
The garage that services my car said that they could do it if I supply the part.
My question is where can I get a TC from at a good price, and are there different types
Tia

As they are ZF parts, fairly common.
Ask a ZF specialist how much a overhauled one will cost.. normally around a 425 quid over here..
Some times(most) Part exchange, so you can sent your old one after the replacement job

Island do a TC for £875.00 + VAT!

https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/torque-conver...38300.html

You could try Sussex Auto Parts and see if they will do an exchange unit https://www.sussexautos.co.uk/torque-converters.php

There's no cheap way out really beyond fitting a used transmission which will carry some degree of risk if you can find one. Searaider is breaking his D3 but I do not know if the box is still with the car.

I drove to Keighley. Specialist there did mine (re-con) swapped for my old one and it was £500 and took 2
Days for them to do it. Great service and judder went away. Google BA transmissions. Think prices may have gone up but if you are North Easy it may be easier than Bristol

I've used Martin Lowe Transmissions in Barnsley (not sure how North and East you are), but very much worth the trek over. Were excellent.

Are you still happy with the replacement Torque converter?

After the engine died on the family D3, I think it might be time to fix the autobox on mine. It works perfectly for a few miles from cold, but judders a lot and is almost undrivable in cruise control as it changing gears / juddering all the time.

most of these posts are a few years old now, so wondering if you 'got away' with the the TC, or whether you needed a full gearbox or another TC within a few years?

Any up to date supplier recommendations? I am Midlands based, but in Bristol for work. Not sure whether to try and tackle it myself (driveway job!) or get someone else to fix it for me!

Thanks
David

Mine still going good.... nothing more needed.
Try Bristol Transmissions. Then fit local.
