Light around gear selector
Does anyone have a fix for this problem? Mine is out of warranty, and a new one I expect is a lot of money. Has anyone tried to fix it themselves? Or do you know of any companies that might offer an exchange service for this part

Have you checked it with the rotary dimmer for the dash board lights etc set to its brightest?

Oh yes. Checked that after reading another thread. I sometimes see it come on albeit for only about a second or two on start up but that’s it

I got one off EBay quite reasonable, easy ish job to swap over, my light was still working and I still have the old one as a spare, it stays in the selected position ok but it no longer locks in the selected position as I had to do a mod on it to keep me mobile while I obtained another, I don’t know if the eliminated part can be swapped without stripping it down if it’s any help?
Edit: from what you have just written it may be a poor connection, take it out and check the connection under the rotary switch. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Noticed on mine the other evening that the overall selection of gears isn't illuminated, but just has a red illumination only on the gear that's selected.
Is this normal or should all gears be illuminated along with the red of the gear that's selected?
(Hope I've explained this ok)...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
Think you should have the thin green ring around the knob and the gear your in lights up in red when selected.

Its a common problem hitting the later models.. mine so far ok but when it goes i'd be looking at replacing the unit from ebay and just returning if not working

Bit of a gamble buying a secondhand one I think, but like you say, you could always return it. New ones don’t seem to come up

Thanks Mm, no don't think I've got the green lights, just the red one.
(I'll check when it's warmer)

Getting it replaced under warranty would be great if I still had some. Surely ,if it’s such a common problem, why hasn’t anybody got a fix for it?
