Will you be 6 days cold turkey from the Internet?
Btw, in China - do try Baijiu but watch out as it’s a quite hard spirit. Tastes much better when mixed with Fanta or similar.

We’ve got tonnes of data for the next few days, plus a data sim packed & ready to go for China. The cold turkey bit will be Mongolia, unless Megafon roam there. Which I doubt but will check.

Cheers.
It’s great fun trying to read Russian, especially when the signs don’t flip to English every now and again. We’ve been playing vino pot luck with Russian vino and it’s been really good, esp as most of it has been under £3 a bottle. We’ve got at least one bottle of Moldovan vino in the bag so will see how that goes.
Getting there, only 3.5 hours to go.

Windows pretty grubby so rubbish pics.

Heating system on train, sadly not in our carriage. Our attendant is a bit mean with the coal!

And pointy end of train on our first legs stretch at Kirov.

We expected loads of peeps selling food but nothing. Mind you there can’t be more than thirty peeps on a train of 15 coaches.
Food ordered for lunch.
Oh and yes, those beds/bunks are as hard as they look.

PS Lunch in the Russian Railways restaurant car. Pretty simple but did the job nicely, and reasonably good vfm compared with the rest of the menu. We’ll prob just do the set lunch there, maybe breakie, and bickies at all other times. Dinner might be from a green bottle.

30’s plenty, not sure I could take the excitement of going too fast. That’s on top of the excitement of a time zone change.
SWMBO is officially in charge of getting us up tomorrow for breakie at the right time. Up until last year (or 2017) the whole Russian sector of the route ran on Moscow time. I can see why now.
