Many thanks, i havent looked at the bridgestones with any seriousness, ill give them a better look. Not concerned with offroad ability. Any tyre will manage the offroad conditions i would encounter. Im specifically looking at a winter set.

Tom & Farmer Chalk - many thanks.

It seems that there's no good compromise. I need a winter tyre, but Winter is when I go off-roading when shooting. I have a number of sets of wheels but swapping regularly & frequently during the Winter doesn't appeal, part from the problem with TPMS!

Regards

How about a winter rated all terrain tyre then? The Grabber AT3 and the Scorpion All Terrain Plus are both winter rated and work well off road. Good on road manners too. They are a compromise, of course, but give better performance across the range of conditions than any specialised winter or off road tyre will. Better off road than a winter tyre, better on winter roads than an off road tyre.

Both available in 255/55/19 with Disco-friendly load rating.

I had G Grabber ATs on my last Disco 3 & was very satisfied with them, I'd done c. 45k miles on them when sold with lots of tread left.

It may be that they are still the best compromise.

Looks like the Pirelli Scorpion AT+ is what I'll be going with as my winter set. Thanks for the advice.
