Brembo 4 pot caliper upgrade |
|
I have a set of Brembo 4 pot calipers which came off a RRS TDV8
I know I need to fit new 360 mm front brake discs - are they all the same.
I only ask as Euro car parts have 50% off on brake discs etc and I wish to purchase some.
All help is appreciated

Don't forget you will also need to change the backing plates. I found a second hand pair from a D4 on ebay for about £20. Cleaned and painted and looked good as new. I also changed my front flexi hoses on mine at the same time. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

They are harmonic dampers. I turned mine around so they missed my rims.

John P do you need the carrier or do you bolt them on where the carrier bolts on?
Also what back plate did you use.

They don’t need the carriers. They bolt straight on. You cannot use the standard D3 backing plate. You have to get the bigger ones.

I used Smoothrite red on mine. Did strip them down and get the refurb kit for them and new decals. The D4 backing plates fit. A bought a pair second hand and painted them. Well worth changing the flexi hoses at the same time.
When you fit them make sure you fit the right way. Bleed nipples should be at the top. Also the torque setting is quite high for the carrier bolts which become the caliper mounting bolts and use the correct socket for them as will round easily if you use the wrong one. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

Yes the flexi hoses are the same. LR say they should be changed every 6 years I think it is. Refurb isn’t difficult. The two kits are either just all new seals or seals and pistons. Depends what condition the old ones are in. I got the pads from GSF so can’t help with part number. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

It's very easy. Remember to use Rubber Grease when assembling.

Measure them. If they are 360mm they will. They do look massive. I did paint the bells and the edges on the discs with some silver hammerite as they were not coated so didn’t want them to start looking rusty after a while. Also don’t forget to get a 12 sided 21mm socket for the caliper carrier bolts. 👍 2006 TdV6 HSE.
