EGR blanking

Anyone know where I might be able to get hold of an EGR blanking kit this week - lots of people seem closed until 4th Jan Sad

Or do I have to resort to 2p pieces Laughing

Not surprising really. And Euro has it's usual obscure brands available. I've managed to find someone on eBay who can do a next day delivery on a blanking kit so I'm going with that and will then sort out the software patch in slow time from BAS.

Cheers!

Good to know. Took the recommendation DrRob on the RRSport forum and they were one of the only ones doing next day shipping (at a cost!).

Been exchanging emails with Rob at BAS about patching out the EML too. I think it might push me to buy an IID and get rid of my iCarSoft.

Hi, I just cut the ends off of the EGR coolers and welded the holes up to blank of at the manifold, I then cut the EGR tubes off at about 6" from the inlet manifold end, flattened the cut end in a vice and crimped over; quick and free and makes it look like EGR's are still attached.

I got the EGR blank kit. Nice and easy to blank off the pipes on the EGR side, all sorted. However, the butterfly... wtf? How on earth does that come out without breaking it? I've already had a small splinter of plastic separate from it. Have seen various posts on mole grips and have resorted to pulling the y-piece out but it still seems stuck fast. Any help appreciated! Thx.

It will come out, i used mole grips to pull on mine and helped it with a screwdriver used as a lever.
Once it starts to move it will pop right out

Theres a post on here somewhere that sugg a flat screw driver, poking up from underneith In the recess) is the way to do it (coz thats where u get the most robust ‘edge’ to lever against). I used this technique and it worked. Scary...but worked.

Thanks. That was the conclusion I was coming too and why I've removed the Y-piece to get it on the bench. Then I can try and get a good lever underneath it from the bottom (which you can't really do when it's on the car).

Well that was a b*tch of a job in the end. Resorted to removing the Y piece, gently holding it in a vice, moles around the end of the shaft and then a screw driver to lever the moles up through the lowest area of the actuator housing. In the spirit of sharing, this is how I did it.

All back together now and test drove the car. Definitely runs a lot better. Will need to do the EML patch next.
