Cruise control amusement
So for the past year the cruise control has been not working. Today I thought I’d look into it. Having stripped the steering wheel down, removed the buttons and loom back to the steering column and tested each connection found no fault.
Put it all back together and went for a test driving not expecting much. The cruise control has been restored to its former glory... for now at least.
Is this the equivalent of turning it off and on again?
I might tackle the leaning suspension one day soon if this is the luck I’m having 05 D3 S - Gone but never forgotten

Just to make sure, take it to bits and put it back together again and see if it still works

It might have not even needed the shipping down & fiddling with. It’s their way of messing with your mind.

The lengths at which these machines will go to play their physiological warfare is certainly noteworthy, I’m in awe 05 D3 S - Gone but never forgotten

Its not something I miss. A D3 I owned completely shut down on me when heading up the M6 hill southbound towards Shap. Coaxing a dead D3 from lane 2 onto the hard shoulder between 2 trucks was fun. It would do nothing while I was waiting for the RAC, then started first time for breakdown chap. I could swear she was laughing at me.

Been there did that last year. Exactly the same problem. Exactly the same test results. Exactly the same outcome.
I do love my V8 though. Even though I'm about to have to do the control arms, new tires, etc.PAGODA

Krooz control issues.....
Hi ya,
I've had my disco for about 4 yrs now and getting to know it pretty well, along with it's 'frubles'.
A while ago, I also had a similar issue which had a similar fix. I scampered over to YouTube and spent a while rampaging thro' some good stuff and some piffle, but, what it came down to was the short cable which connects to the LH switch-pack and connects to the centre connector of the clock spring.
There is a known issue where the connector seems to check out electrically for continuity BUT, the female connectors work themselves loose and when plugged-in, it will work for a while but eventually come loose again.
I found a new genuine LR part on that well known auction site, I think I paid around £20 for it, but it permanently solved the problem.
I work with intermittent faults regular at work and know what a bummer they can be.
I think for the cost, it's worth it.
Mines been perfect now for well over a year.
Hope that helps !Life truly does only come once. Don't waste it. Have a disco !!

Having read gadget_man173's entry, I bought a genuine loom from eBay (other well-known auction sites are available) for the princely sum of £35. Having previously replaced the clockspring to rid myself of the intermittent CC, I had the tool to remove the airbag (and I’ve learned how to apply it effectively) and then it was the work of moments to release, remove and replace the loom.
Sorted!
Well, until it intermittently decides it's faulty again.

I've replaced my switch packs, loom, clock spring and brake light switch and still have no cruise control. Any one have any ideas where to go now?

I've been meaning to update this for ages.
After I installed the new loom in the summer of 2019, it did indeed work well until it did indeed become intermittent again.
Since there was nothing left to replace that made sense, I instead tried a mist of WD40 on the plug connectors at each end of the loom. Nine months later, not a stutter. So I probably need not have replaced the clockspring or the loom, just WD40'd the plugs. Oh well...

Obvious question (but you never know): is CC enabled in the black box?
