I took out the radio - the back-side has these connectors - this is our connector for AUX in on the base radio CD400.

Yes - this one works - I tested it. I am just wondering what is the smaller black cable connected to the same plug there (it is not going from the thick black/blue/red)- it comes as standalone. But assume - no one has the wiring/connector description for this so I will leave it there
But you are right - these cables must go somewhere - but now when I am at the source - it doesnot matter anymore Thanks.2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

I would remove the panel opposite the one you removed ...meaning if you removed the passenger one , then try the drivers one.G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Guys,
Just trying to get my head around this. I think that the aux wire is not to the rear of the GS console.
I took the blanking tray out and there were three sets of wires.
One the orange one I assume for the aux power socket, then two in green which I think are for heated seats, 1 being four wires, Red/Brown, Blue, Blue/pink & Black and the other Red/brown, green, Blue/pink and black.
Has anyone else a GS? is the aux connector hidden away from these? I had a root around and could not find any more wires.
It looks like the GS now does not have the connector plug in the rear console????

I have a 2007 SE however with base radio only - I was also not able to locate the cables for AUX in the center armrest. Only for back-seat heating and 12v socket. I was not searching further (I am planning to buy ACM to be able to connect USB and Iphone).
But maybe they are hidden and ziptied below so you do not see them
That was the case for example with the 12v socket in the back - the cable was there but it was carefully hidden and fixed with a tape 2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

Firstly i have never had an issue with low volume on mine .
Aux source does not work until you plug in a jack plug into the aux socket.
Its the same principle on any electronic unit.Ipod for example ..when you plug in the headphones ..they work because the headphone socket pushes a little pin to switch over the sound.
So i stripped out the aux socket to have a nosey
I tred earthing the aux earth connection and it makes no difference.
What i did find was if you disconnect the green plug, the aux works ok.
So if you dont plan on using the socket in the rear , and you have connected into the aux loom at either the wire behind the aux socket , the plug in the passenger footwell or the stereo its self , just disconnect the plug.
Hope that makes sence
Or you can just simply leave the plug alone and leave a jack plug permently fitted in the aux socket.
LR supply a small blanking plug when they fit the overhead dvd unit , but iv been unable to find a part number or picture of one ...
wiggs, I too have had a little look into this while fitting my Harman Kardon Ipod Drive and Play (excellent bit of kit by the way everyone, I'm on my second now, and they're only about £20 on ebay now. My first in my D2 was over 100) and I too found the problem with the extra wire on the rear AUX input socket. Mine isn't black though, I have the two channel inputs for left and right, and the black for ground, and then the 4th wire is a white one. Needless to say it will do the same thing though I'm sure.
I suspect that as you have pointed out that it comes from ground, it is probably connected through to the left and right channel inputs until you insert a jack plug to break the connection. I have simply found as you advised that the best solution is just to disconnect the plug from the back of the socket, although I would have liked to leave it useable so that the kids could hook up their ipods etc. I'm guessing that simply cutting that extra ground wire before it enters the multiplug would solve the problem but I haven't tried it yet, so can't confirm.
I also as others have experienced a reduced volume on the AUX input. It is not nearly as loud as the CD or Radio. Of course I can hear it ok, and it sounds great (better than the FM transmitter I had on D2!) but doesn't go as loud as I'd like it to. Also have to remember to turn it down before switching to CD or radio or you get your ears blown off!!
By the way, does anyone know what the other things are on the AUX in PCB? It looks like it would be some buttons maybe, for a different market?D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

AUX PCB
Is theCB with the AUX socket the same as in the doors for the stereo controls? Wondering if they use the same PCB as the board layout looks very similar to the switch positions.AJ

AUX PCB
The extra blanks on the Aux PCB are remnants from the RR sport Aux module. Since the RR sport rear DVD system has separate LCDs in the headrests, the Aux module supports 2 stereo video inputs. Hence the YELLOW (video), RED (right stereo), WHITE (left stereo) designations on the PCB.
