Insert Dr. David Banner quote here Mr. Green
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

United Kingdom 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial Auto Barolo BlackDiscovery 4

I spent years running around Europe with a hospitality bus and a Gardiner 180 - ah, memories of knocking out the compression on all cylinders to get it turning over on the last vestiges of a battery, then flicking in one bank of three cylinders...

Talk about running rough...

...but at least it got it turning over and you could then flick in the other three cylinders to restore normal running...

Memories!
 D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY

D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)

Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

When I started it was the first of the turbo gardners and they were dead reliable Shocked we had six and one mech spent his entire working life keeping just them six truck engiens running, not the rest of the truck just the engines!

We had one 8 cyl gardner and it had levers on the huge inj pump so you could switch off cylinders to save fuel when running home light.

This was when the Volvo F7 and F10 models started to take over and 20 yrs later ERF was taken over by MAN and the then ERFs were rebadged MANs.

Seeing a fleet of Foden’s, ERF’s and Atki’s fitted with various 150’s 180’s and 240’s starting up in a yard was a sight that far back, couldn’t see a thing.

See now we can talk Eaton twin split or Roadranger and look really old Very Happy

The Erf drivers took 5 galllons of oil with them on a Monday and used it all by Friday each week of the year, apparently the trick was to keep it just above the minimum as to high meant the crank webs swiped the oil and its lost quite a bit of power.
I would like to say I look back fondly, but in reality they were bags of carp!

Drove new generation Scania last night, I dont like Scanias at all but have to say what a tool, the most car like truck I have ever driven.

Eaton twin split, nice box, marmite though, needed patience, the Fuller wasn’t bad either, many of today’s drivers wouldn’t have a clue, most of them now can only drive if it has two pedals.

Im not being secptical but I cant believe a car whos engine is twice the size and weighs at least twice as much and auto can be cleaner than the frenchie?

For example theres Euro 6 and then theres the latest Euro6, will have to google as I cannot remember what its called!

The Renault is a 2017 model, the Disco a 2018 model, Im sure a 2018 Renault was really hard to get hold of, you know as they are a really rare car!

Not forgetting that Reanult are tied in with Nissan and Dacia (both in the same chart) and might even supply the engines.
the k9k engine (1.5dci) has been the same bar the injection setup since 2001.. so it’s not a bad engine for nigh on 20 year old technology.

The disco engine isn’t new either. It’s been in the D4 since 2010. Obviously the emissions stuff has been improved!

Actually it's been in the Disco since 2004, so almost as old as the Renault one. Just continually improved.

The newer SCR blue dci engines are rolling out now, the Dacia duster being the first, and the nOX of that is 52mg/km
