As we rarely seem to have more than 5 Group Buys open for sign-up at the same time, would it be feasable/possible to mark "currently open/active" group buys such that they temporarily stay at the top of the "New Posts" list, rather than having to be bumped frequently?
This would provide maximum exposure, and then after the closing date this temporary sticky could be automatically de-activated? It should also help reduce the number of people who miss the closing date and then ask to be added afterwards (thinking of the mantec plate in particular).
I've made this a poll open for 21 days, to give people a chance to voice their opinion on this.
As alway, I'm ready to be shot down within the first 5 minutes

I still get PMs from people looking to take part in GBs that have long finished The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Think he heard you 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
Cheers NoDo$h - seems to have work as we've had 5 more votes in a reasonably short period LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

It's obviously a popular idea, but it's not really possible to do this as the forum software doesn't support stickying posts at the top of a search, which is what the new posts page is.
It would also clutter up the New Posts list with Group Buys which may have had no replies for many days, even if they are open...
What I suggest is a better way of managing the Group Buys forum, so that it is tidied up - old buys are locked and clearly marked as closed and over, and current buys are highlighted in the forum listing to make them obvious - plus adding the closing date as a required field on the start of a topic so it can be added to the forum listing.
Forcing the current Group Buy threads to be stuck on top of the New Posts page could lead to it becoming visually over-run with these threads, and detracting from what it's supposed to be showing. If Group Buys are stickied like this, then technically a number of other "important" topics should have the same treatment, such as site rules, recalls, various important issues, polls, etc etc - can you see why this wouldn't work?
I appreciate that maximum exposure is wanted for these group purchasing topics, but the proposals I've suggested above would do this in a way which is more coherent and easily applied across all the areas of the site and less like a "quick fix" to force visitors to look at certain threads A brief look in the Group Buys forum will show all the current/active topics and the closing dates.
