Right so here goes:
Had an hour and a half of light to get the arch and liner off to take a look (Also took the case off the compressor again to double check all looked okay).
Checked over the plugs and cables and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary i.e. no bulges etc.

I've just pushed the liner back in and pushed the arch back on without any of the screws and expanding plastic plugs so I can get back in easy if anyone spots anything.
Does anyone know the purpose of each of these three plugs, which does what?

Hmmm, actually just noticed something in that last shot. The blue plug looks really chewed up, don't know what would have caused that. But also the black wire looks like it could be broken? Again, no idea what affect this would have.

Ref the connectors
I imagine but of course not 100%
1) compressor
2) goes onto the rear loom
3 ) hand brake module
Did u clear the faults, then with the engine running move the wires around to then see if faults came back up again , don’t know if there’s any issue if pulling them apart to ensure there’s no dirty pin connections inside

I did clear the faults several times but not whilst moving wires around. Was running out of light so thought I'd get some photos and leave the car in a fit state for the night.

Wonder if that black wire is an earth or possibly sensor wire .....

I'd say you found the problem Check all the other connectors methodically too but looks like that's the culprit
Actually when you look closely there is evidence of some unusual chips or teeth marks on that plug! Mice or a Rat maybe but it doesn't look recent!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

If it is this wire, is it possible to open this plug and rewire it?

Hi
Don’t see why u can’t pull the connector apart
Also thinking it looks like a 4 x way terminal connector , so if for example u was unable to get the same connector about cutting it off and fitting a new one
But the more experienced guys will be able to advise better in what the best course of action would be

Also here is a better picture of that connector , indeed has 4 x wires , that connector looking at the wiring diagram goes to the compressor

Been studying and made some progress. Found an oooold thread on here referring to those 3 plugs. Apparently the blue plug provides power to different things. These four wires all start with C2527 on the wiring diagram.
C2527-1 is the big Brown/Red wire which powers the compressor
C2527-2 is the big Green/Yellow wire which powers the parking brake
C2527-3 Black/Purple & C2527-4 Black/Orange power the Valve-Corner-Front-RH of the front valve block.
I'll double check tomorrow but I have a feeling those two thin wires don't actually come out the other side of the blue plug, they look like they are just create a loop that leeches power from the bigger cables.
It is C2527-3 Black/Purple that looks broken.

Hi mate
Funny enough I was also looking through the wiring diagram
Suppose at the end of the day at least u have found a very good culprit that could be causing all the issues
Look forward to see what u find as u investigate more , plug looks like it just separates
