Thanks Pete and L319
Sorry to be naive, but when I walk in to the Land Rover North One dealership and tell them that they have programmed my tow electrics as American rather than British will they know what I am talking about and believe me?
Is there anything more technical I can explain or any way I can prove this?
Thanks for your help
Ben

No they won't believe you and think you are an idiot.
Hence why I say purchase a cheap trailer light board you can put in the passenger floor well and show them. And say it's same on your trailer too
Maybe someone could look up the config options.
Or just buy some red bulbs for your trailer and pretend your in America ! £2.75 off eBay for a pair

I will buy a cheap board as that may help a bit but I know they will still tell me I am talking rubbish.
Config options would be great if anyone has them.
Thanks

So the saga continues.
I took the car back to the dealer with a tow board that I checked on my neighbours car.
The dealer was helpful and agreed that as long as it was a programming issue then there would be no charge.
They kept the car for a day and said that it was not a programming issue but a fault with the tow electrics wiring loom, apparently there are faults and the resistance checks indicate the the loom is faulty. The new loom and labour was quoted at £380 so I decided to collect the car and carry out more checks myself.
This time I unplugged the whole tow loom from inside the rear side storage compartment and carried out a test directly on the 3 pin female vehicle connector using a bulb's ground on the chassis.
The same problem occurs when the brake is pushed the red, green and brown wires all become live. The green and brown operate the indicators correctly but when the brake is applied all terminals are live.
I am no expert at all but I assume that I have proved that the issue is not with the tow loom but somewhere else.
Does anyone have any more thoughts?
Thanks
Ben

Yeap that's proves it reasonably.
What's interesting is that you previously calling the brake light brown not red ?
And now mix yellow and brown.
Is this a fault? Mistake ? Part of the issue!!! Or at least check. Different LR colours?
Colour blind ppl can't tell yellow and green apart
Post a request for someone with an iid local to you
+ £65 for a licence for your vin no.
Or argue with dealer ?
Or £1.99 red bulbs for trailer

Do the park sensors disable now the trailer board plugged in?

Hello Pete
Thanks for the bulb suggestions, I may well have to resort to that but really I just want the electrics to function correctly and I don't need to tow for the next month.
I may have got my colours/numbers mixed up so I have checked again.
When the brake is pressed pins 1,4 and 5 are live
when the sidelights are on 6 and 7 are live.
The indicators are fine and either pin 1 or 4 are live when they operate.
The reversing sensors still come on and the ride height can be altered when the tow board is plugged in.
I am a bit lost.
Thanks
Ben

As you can see from the diagram posted in this thread.
Brakes lights are pin 6 (red usually )
Right tail light is pin 5 ( brown)
I don't know what LR electrics are on the later cars. But you might be lucky this is confusing it ( if it's wrong)

Yes, that seems odd as well as all the diagrams show brakes as red wire pin 6.
The vehicle female socket with Red, Green/Brown and yellow is definitely all live when the brake is pressed with all tow electrics unplugged so I the problem is with the vehicle not the tow electrics.
I may have one more go at speaking to the garage.
Do you think it is still a programming fault or a wiring fault in the vehicle?
Thanks
Ben

I think you need to get to the bottom of the colours first. Look at the diagram. Check pin 5 & 6 have the correct function

Ok, yes I was being a fool and had flipped the numbers, sorry. So
this is what I have when I reconnect the tow loom:
1 L/h indicator
2 Fog light
3 Ground
4 R/h Indicator
5 Side lights
6 brake
7 side lights
All is fine except when the brake is pressed 1 and 4 are live as well as 6.
Sorry for the confusion.
When the tow electrics are removed and the brake is pressed all three wires(yellow, green and brown/green)
in the picture below are live.

So, you are fairly sure it is a programming issue and I should push the garage further?
