Think some chaps need there head testing taking a vehicle to main dealer for MOT's!! They have a proven record of removing cash from your wallet by any means possible. Seriously you must have money to burn.
I think if they consider a vehicle unsafe then surely they woulndnt let you drive it away? I would ignore the fact that a fialure has occurred and drive until my currrent MOT ran out on 27th.
I take mine to an MOT only place as you can then be sure they're not trying to get work out of failing niff naff.
Btw that door lock is as real pain, the little cable connections took me an hour of struggling. There is a mod you can do to repair the old actuator if your havent already started it.

Hi
Went with my local dealer because they pick it up from home and also many other local mot stations won’t do 4x4s , can’t sit around and wait because of my back
Certainally haven’t got money to burn , plus they can’t do anything without my permission
When they wanted to charge me for a diagnosis I just told them to leave it and park it outside for me to collect , they even washed it as well
Hoping I may be able to get back on my feet today , even if I spend today getting it out and tommorow back in , won’t bother with the old unit so bought a complete new actuator so it’s done and dusted
Spoke to them and they said just call once I’ve done the lock and will sort out the retest for me
Appreciate the heads up

Mine passed last year with flying colours from my LR dealer. They told the service advisor that it was in better nick then some of the cars they had on the forecourt.
Felt sorry for them, so told them not to wash it.

My MOT tester had similar comments, that my D4 was in better nick than some of the newer stuff he sees at 3 years old...2010 Disco 4 HSE
- Digital Dash Club
- GAP BT IID

Well my back felt abit better dinner time so got outside and fitted the new lock
Rang dealer and she said to come in tomorrow around 10.30am for the restest
Only casualty part was I broke the outside small handle cover that clips in , so will just order a new one
Couldn’t see what was wrong with the old one, assume one of the motors is lazy and stops working therefore locks shut
Also taken the child locks off
Ah, well round two

Thks mate
In fairness it wasn’t that bad, took around 2 x hours , just abit fidly , DM s guide was perfect and really helped as it would have taken a lot longer in working how things came apart
Like the small plastic pin and how the assembly slides out it’s mountings
Am wondering , ref the re test , do they only need to check the door works ok or have to test certain items again plse
so fingers crossed will be ok for the retest

If its within 10 days they only test failed items.
It should be free or a part fee. If they are picking it up and dropping off I guess you will be charged though

First one is hard. Second is easier, or in my case the third and fourth.
Only changed the 2 rear locks / and a new cable for the key operation on the front passenger.
The fourth lock change was because the dealer ordered the wrong side. I didn't check or open the box beforehand and stripped the door down before offering up the lock...…. So had to put it all back together.
