I agree with Malky, the problem with aftermarket stuff is the "nick-ability" of it and also the dangly cables that are strung around the cabin.

Obviously the best solution would be a hardwired camera connected to the SatNav with automatic changeover but that appears WAY too technically difficult, so here's my take on the aftermarket solution......

Wireless Reversing Camera Kit from Maplins.

Camera Modified by cutting off the fixing lugs and mounted at high level to the trim panel at the top of the tail gate

The transmitter takes a power feed from the Reversing Light and lives in the rear cubby box thing.
Cables between the camera & transmitter are routed through the flexible rubber conduit near the tailgate hinges (that was fun), into the rear high level trim panel, and then down the side trim panels to the cubby box transmitter.

That’s things sorted out at the rear.

For the monitor, I managed to strip down an old phone charger that was angled at 45 degrees, cut down all the excess cabling & connected the monitor 12v feed cables to it.

Then I fixed a mounting plate on the rear of the charger body and attached the monitor. Just for good measure I strapped a couple of small cables ties around the body to stop it peeling apart.

When fitted in the normal ciggy lighter this it what if looks like.

Because it’s a self-contained unit it can be fitted and removed literally in two seconds and its ready to go. Smile

As its a wireless system, you do get a bit of interference in the picture quality occasionally. Confused

Because the unit only has a 2.25 inch display, mounting it at low level in the dashboard like this does make it a bit difficult to pick up detailin the picture - mounting it more at eye level would be better but then you have all sorts of other problems with cable routing etc

The camera picks up object on the floor at about 2 feet behind the car.
For trailer hitching, mounting the camera as suggested earlier in this topic would be better i.e. as Wiggs has done or maybe it the tailgate handle.

Thanks to Pointyed for the original idea
Thumbs Up

the rear seat cupholder thing? it's a right pain to get out as far as I remember ( I had red mist with it so the detail has gone from my brain ) Laughing I think it has some non-return type clicks that need compressing to remove it, I'll dig it out tomorrow and take a pic of it removed.
 and theeeeennn......???

There's a number of earth points inside the rear cubby close to where you'll be tapping into the reverse feed, you'll see them. Thumbs Up
