Removing Interior light panel

Ok, quick question...

How do I remove the interior light panel above the front seats? Decided to change the interior bulbs for LEDs; did the two reading lights but managed to push the central bulb holder up inside the headlining area?

Can't see if there are any screws holding the panel or whether it just needs popping out using trim removal tools?

Any help much appreciated.
 Tony

Gentle but persistent force does it. Mine leaves the main bit for holding it in place in the bracket in the roof.

Have a look at this video - &list=PL7DE818C6ABC9EFC9&t=0s&index=141

They have quite a few videos showing how to remove/replace various bits on D3/D4s

Cheers

Thanks for the help guys.

ASPGuru, the video only shows removing the clear Perspex to get at the bulbs, I need to remove the whole housing to get at the bulb holder which is now up in the headlining.

So just to confirm, like the Perspex bit the whole housing also just pops out with a little help from a trim removal tool (or flat blade screwdriver)? i.e. no hidden screws holding it?

Cheers
 Tony

OK, I'm not too sure then what you are trying to remove Tony.
I thought it was the front console, as they refer to it, near the rear view mirror, at 3 mins in?
If so, looks like they just pulled it out from the bottom/front edge (front as in front of the car).

I'll be replacing my interior lights with LEDs later today, if the rain holds off, with the PowerfulUK kit, and I'll shout out if I find any nasty gotchas!

Cheers

Just upgraded all of mine, and everything came out just like the video.

Bonus now that the rear door puddle lights now work, which they didn't before.

Happy chappy - huge improvement.

I took them off Dark Bluie with no problem. Can’t remember exactly how but it looks like one holder widget so gentle but firm persuasion should do. Thumbs Up

To get the whole unit down, put your finger along the front edge and pull towards the back of the car applying a little downward pressure also and it will just pop out. Thumbs Up

Guys, that's perfect...just what I needed. I will try and sort it later.

I was just replacing the bulbs with LED equivalents, but when trying to put back the centre LED in the front overhead console, the bulb holder detached and pushed up inside the headlining. (Don't know my own strength Smile)

Anyway, now I know how to drop the whole unit I can hopefully fix it.

Cheers people.
 Tony

Looking at the pic DSL posted, i think it wants pushing forwards not backwards. Explains why i pull that blue fixing out when i push backwards.

There's obviously a difference of opinion.

For the record, I pulled the front back and down first to get it out, then put back in first to put it back. Replaced bulb holder and bulb...all good now.
