thanks for the advice , if you listen closely you go hear a kind of wurring noise in the backround which runs to the beat / revolution of the engine

My update is absolutely zilch , ive taken it to my local indy LR specialist . they said is a lower end engine noise but not something they have done before so they are not interested .........
happy bloody days , i'm in shock .

no we havnt , its suspected that it has spun a crank bearing , we are currently weighing up whether to repair it or sell it as it is

Could it be your alternator or something else connected to the auxillary belt?
My alternator failed last Saturday and I could hear faint rumbling about a week before the failure, could also get faint whiffs of ozone gas, produced when electricity burns in air? As I wondered I discovered!
Often check the systems with a diagnostic unit and all looked good a week prior.

thanks for the advice , it is pretty much the sound a naffed torque converter would make .
