I have a 2015MY D4 and recently had some battery grumbles and replaced the battery but i subsequently saw this suggesting a secondary battery is present.
should i be replacing that one as well?
thanksD4 HSE

Yes if you have stop/start. Or if someone's fitted an aux battery.

Thanks DSL.
My issues relate to the smart key. Recently it hasn't been "seen" (smart key not found) by the car and so i haven't been able to open the car and have had to resort to the physical key and holding the fob on the steering column to sort the alarm.. after which the car finds the key and off i go.
so with the cold weather and prior experience of L322 issues when the battery is past it's best i changed the battery which for a day cured all issues. However on the second day post battery replacement the gremlins returned.
had to unlock with the physical key etc
will replacing the second battery for the start/stop (which i always turn off) help, or do you think this is a LR software issue??
by the way fob battery is fine and replaced that just to be sure....
many thanksD4 HSE

The secondary keeps the system electrics alive while the main battery is used for the heavy work like supplying the starter motor and othe power hungry components, the second battery is only miniature by comparison and is relatively cheap, try leaving it on charge overnight! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
Sounds like a fob issue to me... Battery may be new but is it making good contact? Key is still paired with the car so I'd be surprised if charging secondary battery sorts this..

The secondary battery is only used when the engine is stopped during a stop/start cycle. As M3DPO says, it keeps some systems alive when the engine is stopped. Trying changing the battery in your keyfob, and if tha doesn't work, there was a TSB out for the 'Smart key not found' message on the IPC. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
