Right, executive decision made, 5 ordered. Boat pushed out, £660 delivered for 5 from Oponeo. Looking forward to the kitchen filling with the smell of fresh tyres, ATRs plus a couple of Conti winters for SWMBO's Jazz. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Oh how nice it must be to be affluent. Bow down Bow down Del, have you changed your address, I ask as you keep ignoring my begging letters Big Cry Big Cry

Meant to add, any tyre should be OK as a spare, as long as the rolling radius is the same

Please keep the begging letters coming. These new plastic fivers & tenners are useless for lighting the log burner!! Laughing Laughing

TBS It's the first time I've bought new tyres for the Discos at "regular" prices since 2010, from memory. There was 2 18" ATRs from Italy at £70(ish), sold on after the demise of DB.

Half tempted to jus leave them as a tyre column in the kitchen, I love the smell of fresh tyres in the morning. Thumbs Up

Minor change to title, saves starting new thread. Whistle

Well ordered yesterday, got shipping notice today.

Being shipped by GLS Group, never heard of them and their website seems to show that they are a cross Europe shipper. Anyone heard of them or had tyres from Oponeo how did shipping work out? Last time I had tyres come in from parts foreign (those 18" ATRs from Italy) they came into the country at Heathrow!! Shocked Shocked

I’ve had loads of different things delivered by GLS over the years. I’ve never had any problems with them. It helps that the driver on this route is a very nice fella and rings about 1/2 hour before delivery to ask “ are you around? “
I’ve bought Tyres from them before with no issues and arrived within the promised 48hrs and all the same date code, I’ll look later but from memory the tyres were only months old.
The one thing that I notice about Openeo is tyre price changes a lot I bought 19” ATRs at €136 but within a few weeks they were €215 for the exact same tyre.

Paid the equiv if €150 a corner, not too bad. I could have hung around for them to get cheaper, or more expensive, but if you get the green light from SWMBO best not to hang around. That bulb may not stay green forever. Whistle Whistle

Looking at getting a set of Pirelli ATRs for the D4, question is do I need to get a 5th from the perspective of, should I have a puncture, running with 3 x ATRs and the existing spare, an unused Pirelli Scorp? Obviously until I get it fixed. I've always tended to get the same all round, incl the spare but ended up never using it.

If the tyre is the same size I can't see any problem, thoughts oh tyre experts? Question Question

might have a set of these in the shed Laughing (got 3 sets of wheels tyres) remind me what did I buy from you a while ago ? lol Rolling with laughter

Cheers, now gone for 5 (boat pushed out) a bit obsolescent. Embarassed

Tyres' journey started in Beaune (central E France) Fri 9/2, up to Calvin near Lille then to UK hub yesterday, today (11am) up to Parcel Force NW hub so should have them tomorrow or Thursday. Great it's Parcel Force, local depot is just up the road. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Slight hiccup with the tracking ref & link that Oponeo initially gave me (nothing recognised), quick message to them and got the tracking refs for all 5 tyres, incl the Parcel Force ref, that let the tracking commence. Thumbs Up

PS this discussion on same spare or not may still be revived, it looks like from the tracking references one poor lonely tyre hasn't left the PF national hub. It may follow later. Or not. Big Cry Big Cry

Lovely, at c.50k miles from a set, that's a sight that you don't see regularly.

Do they have the Land Rover (LR) stamp on the sidewall still?

Open the door, I might get a waft of them Laughing

They are in the dining room to stop the lovely smell wafting my way. Saving that for special occasions. Laughing

Will look re LR markings. Thumbs Up

PS Found the LR markings, subtle is understating it a bit. Shocked

These were made in Romania & shipped from France, last ones (like 8 years ago) were made in Portugal ISTR.
