LR stopped supporting the factory nav in 2012.
Any discs after that date are non LR or after market, pirates, clones etc.

I'm not scared, I'm outta here.
Very true Narpy, Navteq sell the 2012 version on their website, but there are clever people out there who have worked out that Land Rover still use Navteq in their cars and the latest maps for those, be they USB or HDD updates use the same basic core.
Therefore it is possible to port the latest maps to a DVD format for use in our antiquated Denso D3 systems!
Is there an argument that if Land Rover/Navteq won't offer an update then a another can? Can it really be called a pirate copy when there hasn't been an original DVD to copy from?
Google and Apple have rather opened the can of worms when it comes to maps.
My replacement unit should be arriving this morning, so I'll update you when installed and with a map disc that works!

Assuming EULAs are enforceable in your country - a qualified yes.
Replacement has arrived, secondhand but with 30 day warrantee just in case!
It had the original DVD init, the same as my one, so that came out and the replacement Rusty one went in. 2017 - 2018 labeled as Jaguar interestingly.
almost instantly it started the software update which went through without a hitch, so up came the map.
Changed the default country from Belgium to UK and tried to remember where there was a new road that 'should' be on it!
Coo, what does the 'new' Forth road bridge call itself, 'The New Forth Road Bridge perhaps?
I've had a look at Google maps and can see the new one is the M90 with the 'old' one A90 next to it so it doesn't look like it is on the latest maps yet!
Even TomTom takes a few months to include new roads.
Navteq or rather Here are American based so probably don't put the emphasis on Europe!
So far all OK except that for some reason the screen went black and only a ingition off, key out got it back again, dodgy connector perhaps, though I did pull the multi plug out a couple of times but whether that it the video signal to the screen I don't know.
Anybody suggestions?

Video output in the square connector.
A bit like USB inside.

Just want to add a 'thumbs up' for Rusty's nav update service. Ordered a DVD from him on Thursday evening, arrived this morning, loaded into the drive and installed in 5 minutes flat, I now have up-to-date mapping. Now to see if it makes any difference to Land Rover's rather quirky routing algorithms!

Thanks for checking Ian...
New bridge is queensferry crossing.
I'll wait until summer, or keep checking Rusty's updates
