May I ask a (possibly) dumb question, cos there's something that isn't quite clear to me...?

Is this a complete tow fitting in its own right, or is it a plug-in for the existing detachable tow bar fitting?

Guy it is basic part of a system and not complete.

I've got to admit this Yank was surprised by all the commotion about a standard Class III - 2 inch trailer hitch. I'm far from the towing expert, but I'll share what little I know.

1. This expensive lump is engineered to a tongue weight of either 550 lbs or 700lbs depending upon your choice to believe the weight limit stamped on the hitch or the notoriously poor US manual. That is part of the reason for the high price - you certainly don't want any voids in the piece. Total tow weight in the US is 7000 lbs.

2. Yes they do rattle - in the US you can find many special hitch pins that designed to eleminate this. I'd be really hesitant about tapping the receiver and removing any material less it reduce its load capacity or stress reciever where the pin fits.

3. Regarding the variety of attachments - keep in mind its a standard hitch across multiple brands of trucks so it is not surprising that you can use it for anything you want a stabil strong attachment point for while in the field. But I have to agree I've chuckled at some of the uses...
