There is a serial number you can see after removal of the viscous fan. Bottom left of the front of the engine. Part of the oil pump casing is visible. I believe that if the number ends in AD it is the weaker style, AE or later is the stronger type.

Gamekeeper, check your vin number and if its later than 8A481XXX ( use 300 for the last numbers) then you will more than likely have the later stronger pump. If you trust me pm you vin except last digit and I'll compare with mine if it's close to this vin range. I bought new pump, seals, bolt etc and tools to find I didn't need to change the pump.
I have an endoscope, but followed the posts on here so purchased the parts with the intention of changing them. Wished I'd used the scope now. Vin number can be first move.

Going by mileage you'll be due a timing belt(s) change soon anyway. For the extra cost of getting the pump done at the same time, it was an easy decision for me. (at 210,000 mls)
A new pump will do no harm, an old pump will be 105,000 miles worn anyway whether in the 'safe' range or not.
