I have to say I agree with op. I am in all day sometimes and when I come out of my office/ex kids bedroom I have a card through the door, I don't live in a mansion where the parcel is delivered to the east wing and I am in the west wing, I am not deaf either as I hear all the other deliveries. Come on Royle snail Thumbs Up

Just to be different, out here in the Cornish countryside, we have pretty good delivery firms. However, it's all down to the local delivery operative. The Hermes guy is very reliable and will call at any time up to 9.00pm ish, same goes for the DPD man (a charming and helpful Pole). Even the Parcelforce guy is very good. Our local postie is almost now a personal friend, we have many a chat putting the world to right.
So some of us are lucky with delivery drivers, long may it last. Thumbs Up

I would have to agree, here in rural Ireland it's the same most delivery drivers will go out of their way to deliver and almost all ring in advance to say they are on their way and give an approx time. As for the regular postman and relief post woman they go above and beyond to deliver.
An Post (Irish equivalent to Royal Mail) now have a locked post box available, we have one at our gate and the postman can open it and put quite a large parcel into it 30cmx20cm46cm and then I get an email to say I've got post.

Just to add to my praising of my local DPD guy, last evening he delivered a parcel of bits for my tractor. He was outside the projected time given for delivery for which he was most apologetic. Turns out that DPD have taken over Interlink and the workload is unbelievable. He had already delivered around 70 parcels and still had almost as many again to deliver the same evening.
Quick chat revealed that he was on £7.50 an hour and was going to have to work Saturday and Sunday. He reckoned that this week he will earn £1000.00. I think he said that weekends paid £8.50 an hour. That's a hundred and something hours to earn what a senior NHS member of staff earns for 37 hours!!! And all of that is not productive.
Still the DPD guy said he didn't mind working all these hours as it wasn't forever and he appreciated the money while it was available.
I jokingly said that while he was working he wasn't spending. He chuckled and agreed.

Think DVSA wouold have something to say regarding working those hours, there is already a EU discipussion going on regarding the amount of hours that van drivers are doing, they are supposed to do the same driving hours as drivers of LGV's only difference being it is not recorded by Tacho, even so they are expected to keep a manual record, if stopped by DVSA he could be in the mire.

Yodel are far and away the worst delivery company they make the worst of the others look good, the change of name did nothing to improve their image from their day's as Home Delivery Network or HDNL

Had a nightmare trying to get a parcel from their Warrington depot one Saturday morning after they tried to deliver to a business address the previous evening about 2 hours after it had closed for the week.
Got to the depot at 8:30 and left at noon having eventually got my parcel the queue when I left had about 40 people in it and one of the Yodel staff informed the queue as I was getting my parcel that the collection office was closing at 12:30 and some of them might not get their parcels, 2 guy's in the queue told him if he wanted to go home then everybody in the queue would get their parcels or there may be some trouble

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you may be thinking about the 'working time directive' which governs the hours everybody is supposed to follow. I don't believe that drivers of vehicles below 3.5 tons have to keep a log where no tachograph is fitted. And I think you mean VOSA, the government body that is responsible for all commercial vehicle regulations.
However, I totally agree with you that no employee should be required to carry out the vast number of hours that this guy was doing simply to do his job.

The van driving rules also state that if you drive more than 4 hours per day or go beyond 50km of your base, you must keep a written record of your driving hours. This does not mean you need a tachograph in your van, but you must keep a formal record for two years.

http://www.octagoninsurance.com/guide/van/...n-drivers/

VOSA no longer exists, been replaced by DVSA

Turn of 'Parcel Farce' today.

Usual sh Censored te of delivery slot of 7.00am to 6.00pm. How the Censored is that a delivery slot??

Waited in all day and tracker confirmed 'on way'. Now here I am at 7.50pm and it's been 'returned to depot' Rolling Eyes

Lying Censored said 'tried to deliver'.

Now I can either drive 15 miles to collect it, wait another day at home or PAY to deliver NEXT DOOR as "that's a different address sir"

Useless Censored

Took 48 hours for 'next day 1.00pm' delivery option. Made an online complaint and got a bland "we're very sorry, we've investigated but cannot find any reason for the delay" platitude.

Only the person who posted can make any claim so I've got back to the company involved (I am very happy with their service - they printed 100CD's with a colour photo for our wedding in under six hours and dispatched them but Parcel Farce let them down......... Evil or Very Mad )
