Dropped key in the pool
Just got back from our first holiday in the discovery which it passed with flying colours, 600 mile round trip and didn't miss a beat.. However, I jumped into a swimming pool with the keys in my pocket and now the car only locks with the remote but won't open?
I did manage to unlock it yesterday so left it unlocked to come home today but foolishly locked it at the services and again managed to unlock the boot so sent the boy in.
We paid £45 at out local key place for a new fob case and battery as when we bought the car the buttons were worn away, so question is can I take it back to him and would he be able to sort it?
I know the keys are supposed to be waterproof but being its an aftermarket fob case I'm thinking 20 seconds underwater hasn't helped

Put the key in a bag of rice for a few days. Don't try to use it in the mean time

Just purchased a D3 and found that the spare was dead. Feeling assaulted as I paid local dealer £180 for a new replacement. Not much help to your situation but letting you know the current cost of a replacement if needed. Cheers.

Open the fob and spray the circuit board with wd40 switch cleaner and allow to dry. Hopefully the buttons on the circuit board will work then re assemble the fob or get a new one.

Nice find Pete199. Wish I had found that instead of £180.

The picture of the battery looks like a replacement battery will fix it. The batteries are not expensive. You can unsolder the old one and replace the battery and all will be good.
