I will check when I finish work... Not checked today to see if its any better after a hard reset.

When we initially had low battery voltage a month or so ago a mechanic had couldn't connect his snap on diag tool when voltage was low...

I wonder if its a earth issue?

Just been out to the truck and not touched it, it fires up straight away.. Seems it likes to go to sleep before it works !!

Read error codes, lots of U xxxx "loss of comms etc to various control units"

Non U codes;

B1A00 - Control Module
B1A87 - Battery disconnection/ECU

C1A00 Control Module (that was in Vehicle dynamics)

So I turned truck off with parking brake on and the red PB light goes off as soon as I pull key out of ignition... I thought it stayed on till it went to sleep ??

Will take it for a spin when roads are quieter.

TIA,

Mark

Your battery leads are properly on and haven't worked loose? Earth worth checking as well, as you suggest.

Not used to such a fussy girl, My D2 you can do anything to it and she don't mind Rolling Eyes

The neg is a RPITA to get too, but will check it

So a quick test this morning, and truck didn't start usual lights on dash. left it.

Tonight I try it and it starts..

Run fault codes and I have some new ones; which got me thinking as I had codes B1d13 & B1D14 (interior lights).

Now a few weeks back I changed all the interior lights to LED, the 501's were CANBUS safe but the 2 lights in the DVD player were just cheap ones, and I noticed tonight 1 row were flashing..

So I have put them all back to original bulbs now, lets see if that helps..

Other codes were;

B1A98 interconnection network local bus circuit 1
B1B70 as above circuit 2
B1C82 headlamp wash relay coil circuit
BiB02 low freq coil
B1D05 lower tailgate release
B1D12 vol alarm circuit

Hopefully it will be the LED bulbs triggering this lot !!

Else at the weekend I will get the nearside wheels off and check wiring connections.

Any thoughts?

Mark

Well removing the LED bulbs didn't cure it.

Truck not been used much, but on Wednesday I persuaded the wife to drive it, 5 mins later she was back with the hazzards flashing !! ummm.

since then its been in error state everytime you start it, which is good for diagnosing it.

So today, battery out transmission module out and opened up, all nice and clean/dry. opened and cleaned all connectors I could see. Battery back in truck starts, within 4 mins hazzards on, christmas tree dash, lots of faults. umm it did stop a bit while I closed the drivers door, not sure if that was just random.

So next set of connectors to look at under the rear N/S arch. Loosen wheels nuts, bang, thunder and hail storm.

Abandon and retreat to inside to look on here for more idea's.

A few hours later, back to it.. Seems someone has been here before, anyway found the 3 connectors, took wheel off to make it easier. White connector came apart without releasing the clip.. umm but this I think is not a CANBUS connector. Anyway take them all apart give them a dam good clean and inspect the wiring for breaks.. No breaks seen.. put it all back together, battery re-connected and it starts.

Leave it running for 15 mins, all still good, clear faults.. still good !! could this be it !! fingers crossed.

Will report back some time soon...

Quick Q, if I have a CANBUS issue will the steering wheel buttons still work so I can use the IID tool, as earlier when it went after a few minutes the IID tool was plugged in and I was midway looking at codes, and went it went into its error I could not longer control the IID tool.. ??

TIA,
Mark

The steering wheel buttons send their signal via LIN to the BCM, this in turn puts them on to the CAN bus, so if you're looking for the signals on the bus, yes it will have an impact on using the IID tool. I've not got any experience with the tool, but know how much of an issue a flaky CAN bus can be.

Well to hopefully close this issue in case anyone else has it, I pretty sure I have no solved the issue. I've done nearly 150 miles including a long trip to south Zummerset today and no sign of any faults.

So in summary I took the 3 big connectors apart by the rear wheel arch, gave them a dam good clean and checked all the cables for damage, of which I found none. All worked fine since then ... fingers crossed I haven't jinxed it now !!

Do you mean the block plugs that sit under the rear passenger side ? just on the chassis ? that look like they should be more safely boxed away rather than just left out to get covered in stuff ?

Have you sorted this or not as you're not making sense and why have you suddenly started talking like a scots man?
