..............and still the random guesses keep coming. Rolling Eyes

Ashsermon, put out a shout for a forum member with an IID tool, near you, and get the fault codes read. Any IID tool owner can do this for the price of a cup of tea, on your drive ( or their drive ), while you wait.
When you have them, post all the codes and I'm sure somebody will give you a much more accurate diagnosis than the random, stab in the dark posts, that you've had so far. Wink

You need the fault codes, don't do or replace anything until you've read and posted them and been advised.

Hi all I'm trying to upload my fault codes! When it faulted it would lock me out couldn't change gear or start it but it would clear within an hour and be ok. It would never fault from cold always after the first drive from cold. E.g. Cold start stop to get fuel try to start and nothing but an E on the screen, Ltd gears available and handbrake problem.

That was lots of faultcodes.. Do you hear "clicking" noises from the door locks and the Hazars light come on by any chanse when this happens?

I could see that the bosh system reported Canbus Off, and thats never a good sign if you ask me..
Im not sure about this and im far from an expert on this canbus field, but if the bus stops running, No one is getting where they are suppose to go, and everyone starts complaining.

I have looked at 2 different D3s here in Norway, both a 2008 my with mostly the same issuesm but addition to your description the hazards came on and clicking noice from the doors where heard everytime the vehicle broke down. On both vehicles the issue where found to be a faulty instrument cluster.

The cure was
A : Get a brand new one ( :censored: loads of £££)

B : get a used one with lower milage on the clock, get someone with the IIDTool and have them flash it to your Vin and milage if capable.. I know Gap can make it work (Where is BBS on this??)

This is just my experience with that model year, But ofc It can be a lot of things.

Am having the same three yellow lamps.
Yesterday, doing 600km ont he mototrway it happened four times.
Always switching off the engine clears it for some time.
On the last stage I shifted into SPORT, going in 6th gear, error didn't come back.

On my car, the error tipicly/only occurs when:
On motorway in easy / cruising speed
In 6th Gear
Never on winding roads or in city traffic
Never off road
Leads to:
Missing top gear >>> higher fuel comsumption
Changing to SPORT not possible

When I leave the motorway I have to switch off the motor imidiatly, otherwise there would not be delivered sufficiant power starting to drive after a stop sign....
that is the only situation, where this failure gets dangerous

WILL CHECK ERROR CODES THIS MORNING AND CHECK STEERING ANGLE THINGY ANYWAY
