If you're got no lights and no other symptoms then no need for the patch.
When I did mine I bought the IID and the patch from BAS. Total cost almost £600 but you get the ongoing use of the IID which is worth a lot. Or you pay an indie to do it which would presumably cost a lot less. Depends if you want to pay for the benefit of having your own diagnostic tool. It's definitely not a difficult job to do with the IID - I managed it  2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks Mike O. I do have a diagnostic tool of my own but is not capable of patching.
That thing that blanking egr stresses your turbo? I don't see how but I've been hearing it a lot.

Maybe any of the tec guys can confirm this does this stress the turbo, last thing I want to do is lift body to replace knackered turbo, friend has sdd software don't know if genuine or not will this patch get, money is tight at the moment would love to get IID but out with budget

It doesn't stress the turbo.
Try the blanking things first and see if the light comes on

Well guys done the blanking today, I take if MIL light was to come on it would come on right away and if that is the case then I don't have any lights as of yet (fingers crossed)

read back through and saw you are 8A so at some point it will need writing out of the software. You may find that you get random engine faults and dropping of the suspension etc when driving. Best to monitor and get the update. Bodsys Brake Bible
