D5 sales May 17

Are LR in trouble with the D5? Confused

The only positive sales in May was the for the FFRR ....but the D5 is down 35% Shocked

Either build is still not at full capacity ...or sales are down significantly.

It might be mirroring SWMBO's reaction when she saw the ar$e end of a D5 yesterday. Her first comment, without any help from me, was "God, that's ugly! The rear is worse than the front." Peeps do not like ugly cars!!

And before any D5 owner (thinking of one in particular) gets his knickers in a twist, tough! SWMBO is allowed an opinion. Ner Ner Ner Ner

All of the range, other than the FullFat were down so it can't just be that the D5 is unpopular.

I wonder if LR's "trendy" bubble is starting to contract generally. FFRR sits outside of the bubble, really, because it's the flagship product and bought by people who want the best, not the trendiest, and it has little real competition.

Also, I wonder if the additional tax burden on vehicles over £40k is hitting them. Most of their output, realistically, suffers here.

Just an opinion based on daily experience but landrover appear to have lost way rr is unique and will remain so d5 is not proving popular for several reasons it's looks are debatable it's overpriced and when you look closely some of the interior trim is quite flimsy the rest of the range are to fashion dependant and the evoque is now becoming an old model at 6yrs old and where is the utility model the one that works for a living and gave landrover its reputation and market are they going to replace it ? Or produce another fashion item?

I just wanted to point out a balanced view that the in-month gives a different view than your QTR quote.

I said in here a few weeks ago that LR would be in trouble with the D5, not only because of it's looks but mainly for it's outrageous price tag.

The new Velar should sell very well though... Wink

Sales of the D5 are down?

That is comparing the current sales of the D5 against the D4 figures for the previous year/quarter.

There is nothing there to indicate the direction up or down of D5 sales!!!

Im sure its a very fine car, but as a general rule landrovers have always stood out from the crowd, now they are becoming part of it.

And it's been noted others have now caught up to a degree and some are cheeper and easier on the eye .where as LR are pushing the boundaries further up market ? But higher prices come at a cost .
