The hill decent control,
There's much more control using gears and the pedal in the middle by far.
I've gave it a good go to try to justify the hdc and couldn't.

I've got great results from HDC under some pretty extreme conditions; HDC can control the braking independently on all four wheels to maintain a predetermined speed, which is not possible with a foot brake alone.

got to agree with red merle
with the hdc ability to control each wheel braking separately its got to be better than the footbrake all on option but with such occasional use i guess it could make my top 10 MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

Got to go with the voice control what a complete crock of Even if you wanted to use it you couldn't as it never gets what you say right.
....you've got to speak proper !
actually...
I've a Yorkshiree accent....it gets maybe 80% of the commands I've tried & used
My wife (who hasn't a Yorkshire accent at all)...VR works more or less the same
Youngest daughter......BBC English - Ditto...
however...to be realistic most of the things it sort of does are complimentary to existing other car controls.....so to me the voice function is a bit of a "party trick"...realised 10 years after I bought it
something to play with on long boring journeys
So y saying it's mi Lancashire accent that's t fault? maybe rest of the country should speak in't dialect of us true Brits in good old Lancs then they would'a programed it rigt Stephen

most useless thing on the D3 has got to be the fuel filler cap, get fed up of taking it off may as well leave it off and just close the flap

The key in ignition bongs, bloody annoying when hitching trailers etc. I always tended to leave key in ignition and turned off when off-road in my Freelander1 (usually grassy fields) as its the safest place IMO.
