Jump leads recommendations pls

One of the ends on the neggie lead has decided to fall apart, so after 20 odd years it looks like time to replace them.

Any recommendations on hd jump leads suitable for the D3/4 or is it just a case of buy the Halfords offering?

Had a look on fleabay and couldn't find just the black one. Sad

TIA

Replace one black and one red with an Anderson connector . . . ?

I did think of that, saw them on eBay but for big bucks. Plus I don't have anything that can crimp big cables, which is also an issue with just replacing the crocodile clip. Another problem with the Anderson connector route is I have to put an Anderson connector in all the cars if I want to use it on them, plus will have to connect to an earthing point on the D4 as (if I've got it right) I can't connect to the battery -ve terminal.

PS No-one seems to do a replacement clap where the cable is bolted in rather than crimped. Big Cry Big Cry

Not a fan of that style, because if the clip jumps off for whatever reason (and I'm sure most of us have had it at some point) then you have the outer edges exposed to catch other metalwork on the way down.

That will be for jump lead usage - to avoid a spark near the battery. Permanently connected cables do not have that problem.

The cheap clamps posted above will be just fine, the important thing to note is the hooked shape of the jaws/beak as they meet like a pincer, which makes them ideal for just about all situations, some of the more expensive ones have flatter jaws and like to pop off all the bloody time, we use leads all the time at work and all i can say is dont buy cheap leads otherwise you will regret it one cold dark wet windy night somewhere!
Cheap leads also tend to have really thin copper core and thick insulation to fool you into thinking they are good quality.

Ive got some sets Ive had over 20 odd years made with welders orange cable and the cheap clamps, in fact every car x5 and the boat has a set.

Last pair I had I ended up using as a tie as club I was trying to get into wouldn't let me in without one.

Guy on the door said I could come in as long as I didn't start anything

Shall I get my coat?

Been looking at 1000A and 1200A cables. That's if I don't fix, SWMBO has been casting aspersions on my DIY capabilities. Embarassed Embarassed
