Recommendations to fix EPB module in Herts, Surrey or Oxon |
|
Hi all - I am trying to get my EPB module fixed or replaced (my indy says it needs replacing!) this week. The vehicle is an 08 plate, manual D3 and I am located in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, but frequently travel to Guildford in Surrey and Banbury in Oxfordshire.
Is there anyone out there who you can recommend like to do this job for me this week please to fix my EPB, ideally without replacing it?
Background - I get the parking brakes cleaned every summer when they start squeaking, however they hadn't started making a noise yet this year. On Saturday evening I stopped at a gate on a hill and the EPB module started screeching. The parking brake was jammed on and would not release. I manually released it and as my car is a manual, I removed the fuse.
My local indy plugged in a diagnostic tool and said that there is practically no force from the unit and so it will definitely need replacing. However I need it done ideally faster than they can fit me in. I looked at Disco_Mikey's guide here, but it is not a job I can do easily this week myself, or possibly ever!
Thanks

It won't need replacing, just unjamming, relatching and adjusting.
Your local garage don't sound the best tbh. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails
Make your own Narpy grill thread
I'm not scared, I'm outta here.

Thanks. I thought that might be the case. However Disco_Mikey's guide seems to suggest that I need to disassemble the parking brakes first before unjamming and relatching. (The text suddenly says "put the EPB shoes back together, discs on and adjust as normal" at the end of the main post number 1).
I can't even see the EPB unit under my car and I suspect this job is beyond my personal capabilities. Any recommendations in or around the Herts area gratefully accepted please.
