Reversing with Trailer and Hazards on, PDC works?

Ok so I wonder if this is by design or not

Never had issue before, D3 tows a boat trailer fine, with perfect light board and LR Electrics. Select reverse PDC silent as you would expect. Today had to reverse with Hazard lights on, after a few manoeuvrers back and forth, the PDC sensors started working with constant beep. Turn of Hazards and silence resumes!?

Everything is standard other than EGRs blanked and BAS patch applied.

Anyone any thoughts here?

Thanks

Sounds like a wiring issue most likely in your trailer loom or plug, I assume everything works correctly when no trailer is attached.

Yes everything works fine when trailer unplugged and when trailer is plugged in. It is only when the hazards are on that the issue happens, all very strange, but will check trailer/light board, as I have a spare one, so may narrow it down.

To confirm..

I have the bog standard OEM trailer wiring - fitted by a stealer

It works with:
all back lights
kills the fog lights & PDC (at the back)
when a trailer plug plugged in

Use of Hazards doesn't affect anything - the hazards work & dont screw things up.

A daft one thats easy to check is the socket for the tow hitch its at the back & low down - easily hit by water...that stays in.
Its worth checking this. WD40 OK - but I use waterproof marine grade grease.
 BREXIT - done properly.

When I did body off recently I found the plug a Censored to remove as the stealer that did the job had pulled the loom tight so had no working room when trying to disconnect. They had also filled the internal of the (car) socket with silicon. The arrangement was therefore not serviceable ... Even by LR standards.

When I replaced I put waterproof connectors further up the loom still external next to spare tyre. I am in the process of testing and will silicone them in (wire connector joins and plug internals) when totally confident ....waterproof grease is an interesting alternative. Of course also introduces another potential point of failure.

Entire body on/off took me 20 odd hours (ex towing electrics) so far been Censored with his for maybe 8. Next body off 30 seconds all up. Thumbs Up

I thought the towbar plugs were behind the left light cluster ?
Which on an RRS you have to remove anyway for body off.

Pete

I had another look at this - yes you can unplug the connectors inside the rear cubby LHS- I thought I would get better at pulling those plugs apart but I haven't.

I thought they wouldn't go back thru the body from the rear cubby but they do ... Via large rubber grommet removed. The only thing I didn't test was the fuse block which might be a bit tight to get out thru the hole maybe have to remove the fuses.

Next there is a plastic cover at the very back right near the towbar where the loom goes thru. There are a couple of screws that are gnarly to get at.

Knowing what I know now I would probably still disconnect at the plug and if I didn't have enough working room to reconnect just work thru the loom even if I had to disconnect the plug connectors in the inside cubby.

Thanks
