Pity we couldn't get the jumpers kids there you could have used them to continue the journey Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!

Turn of the M6 today
It was 'only' three hours this time.
Another "person in distress" (apparently a woman wandering around the M6)
So M6 was closed between J5 and J6 (Castle Brom' to Spaghetti Junction) in both directions with huge tailbacks in both directions (was well down the M42 past Solihull turn), A38(M) (aka the Aston Exspressway) also closed and birmingham yet again a carpark and/or congested mass slap bang in commuter hours.....

if there is a jumper on a bridge, why cant the fire brigade just walk underneath with one of those "catch nets" they use when rescuing folks jumping out of buildings, come from the blind side so that the jumper doesnt jump early, and then the jumper either jumps or the police just push them off - job done.

Apparently, and this is from someone in the 'services', the approach (at least in West Mids) is the "distressed person" is the most important element to be considered and [extreme] gently-gently is the way forward, hence why whole m'ways closed so as not to 'spook' them. They will wait as long as it takes......
Often pans out with getting them to talk, frequently they will say will only continue if person 'x' is available (usually a close friend/relative) so that person(s) are fast-tracked to the location and the rest of the world waits. Often ends at that point.
Said that the majority of these events end when the person gets cold so can just sit it out. So just hope they don't go up on a warm summer day in the morning.....
In today's incident the person was physically on the carriage way so once m'way shut they are not exactly a danger to themselves unless on an overpass or such-like (as stretches of the closed section today are, but don't know the exact location). Would have thought could have 'encircled' them but then that goes against the ethos described in first para'
