I unplug everything at night (though not sure about the kids) and all the charges are (unless I've been conned) proper manufacturers
I bought a cheap Apple charge in Spain a few years ago from a Chinese Bazaar type place - plugged it and it started getting very, very hot and was hardly charging the phone - binned it

I'm anal about having only original manufacturer leads and chargers. I saw a fake Apple charger blow that my nephew had bought from Amazon. Quite spectacular and scary. Luckily we were there to deal with it.

The main thing is they are all ok. If it turns out it was a faulty charger I'm sure they will be buying genuine ones from now on!! there may end up being another explanation for the fire yet! Cheers Rog.

I'm glad they got out unharmed, definitely the main thing!
I bought a 'genuine' phone charger a couple of weeks ago and while in the work van the cabin started filling with smoke, and where the charger plugs into the phone was melting, so I can well believe that the fire could have been started by the charger.

We used to use the OEM wall plug adapters from Apple. They are fine for their phones, but an iPad Pro can get them worryingly hot. We would never use one of those now and use something MUCH beefier from Kensington (it's a medium weight lap top transformer with a USB socket built in) and it never raises above even room temperature and it charges just as quickly.
