My New D4 & Third Party Warranty Advice
I recently picked up my new to me D4 MY2012 SDV6 HSE with just 50k miles & FSH (pic below). I've been lured back from the dark side having driven a Jeep GC for the past 6 years - no complaints there but she was getting a bit leggy! I'm really pleased with the new purchase but I'm looking to insure against potential problems going forward. The dealer (not LR) who sold it to me has offered a discounted 1 year warranty at £400 but restricted to £2,000 per claim and only 50% of any HVAC &/or ICE repairs. On the basis that a catastrophic failure could cost way more than that limit, I've been looking elsewhere. Warranty Direct have offered 1 years unlimited cover for c.£700 which I'm inclined to go with unless anyone can advise to the contrary and/or suggest a good alternative? Thanks.
N.B. Really enjoyed reading the forums!

+1 for WD.
I have 2013 model, and they extended my Luxury care for another year despite me being over miles by a significant amount. I paid £758, Lux care, betterment removed (that's important because you then get no money taken off a claim for age and mileage)
The good thing about WD is that they do haggle with you, and if you don't ask you don't get.

Thanks. I assume you mean their Extra Care package which is the most comprehensive? I can't see any reference to Luxury?D4 MY2012 SDV6 HSE

Ive just been reading my documents, and Luxury care is for vehicles upto 4 years old and under 60k. Mine is now over 4, and is on 75k. I did take out the original LC package on expiry of the LR warranty, and when it came up for renewal this year, I negotiated LC in return for renewing.
Whether you will get LC now as new business is negotiable I would think?

I'll call them tomorrow. Extracare package is comprehensive but I'll see what Luxury covers over and above that if they'll offer it.
Thanks all for the prompt replies. I'll let you know how I get on!D4 MY2012 SDV6 HSE

If you get a quote online, they'll ring you in a few days, usually making an offer under the one quoted online. That's the time to haggle I've found, rather than you doing the calling. I've found WD excellent in paying out too (unfortunately! - but at least they made problems less of a problem).

And consider how long you are going to keep the D4, took out 3 years cover on the D4 as soon as I got it.

They will do Luxury even if you don't fit their website requirements and they will do it for 2 years
You can also opt for main dealer rates but it will cost you more
Let them chase you
I'm probably going to opt to extend my LR warranty but you'd have to have the car inspected by them if it's not currently covered by their warranty. They will charge for that plus premium is a lot more but for me I want minimal hassle and LR Assist option.Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I couldn't get WD to continue the top level of cover despite last 3 years with them and only one claim - new compressor in first year. Now mileage is 71K they wanted £30 to remove betterment.
Moved to Quentin's lot - WarrantyWise for £50 less and no betterment and no waiting for Wear & Tear clause.
I hope I don't need it but it's there for the Big One!Stew,
2010 D4 gone but I really loved it
Went back to Merc - C350 AMG
