Transmission fault - any ideas - North West |
|
Hi
I think I have read about every google post on transmissions.
Long story cut short....
Slipping gears about a year ago coming back from France towing the caravan. Had mega flush sorted. Afterwards it was a little harsh going into gears - seemed to be second gear but settled a little. Had discs changed. Towed van last weekend and limited gears message came up and went into limp mode on motorway. Since then it's got worse. Every time out (trips around town) it seems to do the same. Pumped up the tyres. Rear was really low at 25psi. Took it for a 20min drive. Seemed better. Changed a side light bulb that was out. Went to drop the Mrs off in town and it did the same (I think it was changing into second gear). Tailgate switch is going intermittent at moment. All lights seem okay. No idea what is relevant and what's not. 🙄
Any ideas guys before I waste my kids inheritance on trying different fixes?
Thanks
Damon

You need to get the fault codes and see if you have faults for missing gears. We had the same symptons a year after a transmission flush and about 4 tubes of Doctor Tranny. Faults showed that transmission was missing gears on 3rd to 4th and 5th to 6th. In the end we had the auto transmission rebuilt at a hefty cost of £3200 which included new TC by a ZF authorised dealer. Disco now totally transformed and pulls like a train again.
Feel for your pain but do get the fault codes read. D3 TDV6 S MY2005

Thanks Anjo. What's the easiest way to get codes read? Buy a reader or will my local mechanic be able to do it?

Flack is in Preston and a site sponsor on here. Your car will be in safe hands with him.

First Flack is located in Preston and a forum member.
If you know anybody nearby who has a IId tool or Nanocom Evo 2 then they will be able to read the fault codes, but I would recommend Flack as he will give you good advice on way forward with the issue. D3 TDV6 S MY2005
