Strange question, dual batteries and inverter.
So I collected my car on Wednesday, had the tyre issue but thats sorted, and have just driven it to the Alps last night-all good. Drove really well.
This afternoon I thought I would re check the levels just to be sure all was OK. As I look at the car, the battery is on the right hand side. But on the left hand side there is a cover, under which a second battery clearly goes. Its empty, but the terminals are there.
I also discovered an inverter set up under the passenger seat (where I can plug in a normal 3 pin house plug).
Is it normal to have 2 batteries and should I get one and put it in?
If not normal, why doo I have one?
And finally, any idea why someone would fit an inverter?
Thanks, and sorry for the possibly stupid questions!

Not normal at all, the inventor, terminals and now gone battery are aftermarket stuff.
What wattage is the inverter? Could have been for anything, the watts would give an indication what for.

One assumes that your new to you has been used for adventure and not just the school run.
Second battery may have powered winch, lights or even a fridge, investor may have powered lap top or phone chargers.

Agreed, wattage shows low power devices like chargers. Once looked at what I'd need to power a Nespresso machine, would be great to have that on road trips. Especially when the bugs are out!
