Hopefully buying d4 tomorrow or Saturday need advice
Hi, i've got 2 Disco 4's to look at with the intention of buying 1 of them tomorrow or Saturday but really undecided which spec to go for....
ones a 2010 xs with 65000 miles and 2 owners, but needs the 7 year service doing which ill have to pay for.... so will need to spend another £700-900 after buying it.
The other is a 2010 HSE with 1 owner and the cambelts have been done but its done 120000 miles... the Hse is £1k cheaper to start with but the xs has low millage so should hold it value better...
the only thing that puts me off the HSE is the millage, i don't mind paying the extra for the service on the xs but really undecided...
Whats Everyone think? low milage XS or HSE with 120k and best part of £2k in my pocket?
Regards Simon

Without a doubt I'd buy the XS

Any evidence of work done on the HSE and how many miles a year are you planning on doing?

Buying blind I would go for the lower milage example. High milage vehicles can be a good buy if looked after by an enthusiast such as those that frequent this forum, but if you don't know how it has been looked after go for the lowest milage / best condition.

The XS as it will be easier to get a better Warranty Direct warranty on it....that's if it doesn't come with a warranty already.....Visitor from fullfatrr.com

We haven't looked at either yet but both have full land rover dealer service history. The HSE has the receipts for cam belts which was done last year..

Getting a decent warranty would be easier on the XS than the HSE, given the willingness of the two ends of the crank to no longer be doing the same thing.

Don't get hooked up or place too much focus on the cam belt work that needs doing for the XS.
From a psychology aspect you should just 'see it' as another £xxx to add into the financial calculation.
Its influencing your decision too much (IMO)

From my experience I spent quite a lot of money on my car between 90k and 120k after that most of the bits that needed replacing were replaced. So in my opinion if bits have been replaced and there is evidence I would go for the higher mileage one.

Considering that the Highways England Discos do between 250,000 and 320,000 miles, triple shifting, 24/7, over their 3 year contracts, 120,000 miles wouldn't bother me. I'd be much more interested in the fact that it's a 1 owner vehicle and the quality of the service history that the original owner might be able to provide.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

So an 8 speed comes into his price range.

Bit of an excessive wait when he is looking to get a new car??
There is nothing wrong with the 6 speed, just the 8 is a bit better. I would rather have a 6 speed than none at all.
