Help! Locked out
Hi guys,
Any advice on getting into the discovery?
Both keys won't unlock it also the manual lock on the side isn't working,
Literally my life is in my work fleece including my work van key which is in the back of the disco.
How good of a suggestion is breaking the passenger window?
Cheers

If the manual key is not working I presume you've superlocked it?...which means breaking a window will not open the door?.. It sounds more like a battery issue... has it been parked up for any length of time or headlights on?

Trying to engage brain this morning re your issue but I would definitely try manually unlocking door again and giving key a wiggle and potentially a bit of WD40 in the lock as they do stick....
If the batteries ok the alarm will go off ....stick the key in the ignition and it should silence it....

The manual unlocking using the key in passenger door lock can be very stiff, to the point where you think the key could break. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
Mine.
But I have been able to use the manual real key when my battery ran out of electrons some time back...
It only turns 1/4 of a turn....it's the whole point of this feature "the get of jail card"
I will try this again today to check...
It may be an idea to ask the RAC or AA if they can get an entry before you smash glass....
I've seen them in action prising things & flipping the bonnet catch..
Others will no doubt advise the vehicle battery can be charged via the tow socket (?)
Are both key batteries discharged ?BREXIT - done properly.

The car battery was replaced about 3 months ago, I've used dw 40 it turns about a quarter but it doesn't seem to be turning anything,
Yeah the spare has never worked and the replacement is recently deceased.

"The spare has never worked"
Now there is a lesson for the rest of us
I'd go with the previous suggestion of your breakdown provider gaining access for you.Dave

The key doesn't turn far.
Just make sure you are turning the correct way or both ways.

Right I'm in, and the car is open that it the main bit,
My key has only snapped in the ignition but the alarm is off,
It couldn't of been the spare haha!
What's the easiest way of fixing this?
I'm not in a hurry I've got my work van key I can just use that to get me around
Cheers

I expect that it's internal battery is flat and not talking to the immobiliser. Can you swap the spare key piece and the good fob?Dave

I was reading yesterday that someone on the forum repairs fobs, I'm not sure if he was going as far as battery replacement as it's tricky. But you can only ask....Dave
