Speedo needle not illuminating |
|
Hi,
Asking for a friend so yes this is about a D4 and not my D3
So my friend has just bought a D4 and the needle on the speedo doesn't illuminate. Anybody else had this and how easy is it to fix? I'm assuming it's a led and soldered in?
Many thanks.
Pete. IID, webasto software and workshop facility's available.

Not much help but my own is intermittent. It started while I had the dash pulled apart to try and find a vibration although it could be coincidence. During a conversation with a dealer he suggested it would be a new instrument pack to fix it although dealers often replace rather than fix.

Apparently to resolve via a warranty claim entails the dealer doing diagnostics at my expense & no guarantee of tracking down the fault. Not prepared to pay the £138/hr plus VAT to have them plug a computer in & tell me there are no faults logged so will put up with an intermittent illumination of my speedo needle. D4 - Stornoway Grey

What age is your disco? Are you still under manufacturer warranty? If yes then that sounds like nonsense from the dealer.

At a dealers.....
Take it to an independant.....suggest FourPlus4 in Leeds...
Call them first & enquire if is in thier scope of work
£138..00 for a person to plug a system in to analyse is not just ridulous but not justified. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Leeds is 4 hours drive from me... each way...
The car has a LR extended warranty so only pays out for diagnostics if they are successful! i.e. they trace the fault at the first attempt.
I'll just put up with it flickering on & off. D4 - Stornoway Grey
