D4 Rear Silencer RH Side Fixing |
|
Evening all,
after visiting the site for quite a while I thought it time to join and get involved 8)
So, after 9 years of Freelanders (pertol and then FL2 XSE) I took the plunge and used an eye watering amount of savings to purchase a very nice 2012 Buckingham Blue D4 with only 17k on the clock and a previous old boy as the owner.
And here now is my query, after as couple of days of a rattle whilst idling and clearing out a few small stones from the underbody tray I found the rear RH silencer swivelling about freely and rattling away.......
Before I go to a stealer and start squatting to look underneath, and looking suspect on CCTV - is there a clamp missing, weld fracture, or can someone please advise what the fixing arrangements are to the exhaust pipe for the RH silencer. I can see it doesnt look like a fracture of a weld.
At the moment the genuine jubilee clip has been installed quite successfully to stop the embarassing rattle at the lights!
Thanks in advance
Griff

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I had my MY2012 and there is a bulletin out concerning the problem as quite a few were snapping in the same place. If you chassis number is between
VIN: AA510178-CA638508
It may be worth a trip to the dealers and see if you can get it done under warranty.

My car was still under warranty when it happened and Team Valley Land Rover were just going to replace a section but after they contacted Land Rover about it Land Rover said it had to have a complete new system on for some reason. Cheers Ian
