Sprinter jack and adapter too tall!

So being concerned about roadside collapsing of the scissor jack, I bought a brand new Sprinter jack and adapter off the forum. Today I was modding the polystyrene moulding to accommodate the new jack and I thought I would check the fitting of the adapter in the chassis. That's when I found out the jack is too tall for the chassis. The vehicle was in standard height and it's at least 30mm too tall! Would be worse with a flat tyre. I am doing something wrong here?
