disco 3 Argh !!!!!!!!!

hi all
have a disco 3 that keeps going into limp mode ie driving along normally then for no reason comes up with transmission fault all the dash lights come on and F in gears have to stop and restart car.
goes ok for a while then happens again. can be up hill or down towing or not.
Any ideas please.

Check Brake pedal switch and rear light bulbs Thumbs Up

really ? could it be that simple this vehicle has had a new turbo, new alternator ,new air sensor and garage now want to try new fuel pressure sensor.
yours sounds a much cheaper solution.

When was the alternator replaced? If recently, was the battery fubarred also?
 Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

the alternator was changed couple of months ago and had a new battery as well.

Why is your garage randomly replacing parts that aren't fixing the problem?
Have they read the fault codes with a suitable diagnostic kit?

You did not mention all that in original post, I am sure they would have checked those first Thumbs Up

this has been to 3 different garages not one mentioned brake sensor all tried different diagnostics all supposed to be land rover approved

It is the brake switch behind the brake pedal, it is worth a try even just to eliminate it,likewise for the bulbs. I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but it is one of the first things i fitted when i bought mine Thumbs Up

Mine had the same symptoms last year and it turned out to be a NSR wheel speed sensor so get the coded read.

I used a Nanocom and it was obvious from the fault lists, even down to which wheel it was faulting on.
