But if at renewal they ask you "Have you been involved in any accidents including ones that weren't your fault" he would have to say yes now that insurance companies share information.

I have just been ringing around for quotes last week for my insurance renewal and was asked the question from more than one company.

Probably not what you want to hear and of course just my personal opinion but better to notify your insurer of the incident for information only and claim direct against the other driver's insurer.

If she notifies her insurer your details will be in the system. You are supposed to advise your insurer of all incidents - fault or no fault - and they might check the system when you come to renew.

You are meant to disclose all accidents even if no insurance claim is made at all.

Worst case scenario, but if you need to make a huge insurance claim, the insurer will investigate and you could be compromised if you haven't disclosed all accidents.

Nice of her to own up (being on camera probably helped). I've been hit a few times but no one hung around. One even wrote me a note but with a false number, was probably conscious they were seen!

Yes you do if it goes through the insurance, that is one of their questions at renewal time, if you don't you risk them wriggling out of any clam you may have. No its not fair, but the same happened to me when I was stationary in a car park...... somehow it makes you more of a risk Question Question Question

No.

Unless you have the time to chase her through court, go through the insurance.

That damage is not a small bumper scuff, I recon to have that done properly you're looking at the high hundreds to get it repaired. People soon go quiet at the thought of paying that out.

Seen too many people on other forums where this act of kindness soon goes sour when the guilty party goes no contact despite offering to pay/ admitting guilt.

And what if the repair is not up to standard? Are you going to ask her for more money to put it right of fork out yourself?

Also, as mentioned above, insurance ask for any accidents losses or claims that need to be declared. So to ignore this incident would be lying to your insurers.

Always tell your insurance, don't forget even if it goes through her insurance company they share data.

So if you don't disclose it your own insurance can be void.

It will go down as a None Fault accident. I had a lady run in the back of me in my last car.

It did not affect my price at renewal.

I have had a number of people run into me over the years & it has not affected my premium, but fortunately the last was some years so am not so up to date with current insurers practise.

I think if or how it affects your insyrance is down to the insurer. When I was hit in the back my insurer the following year wanted to increase my premium, even though it was a "no fault" accident from my side, and fully settled by the other drivers insurer. My insurer said it was becasue I was now a higher risk - how can that be when I was stationary in a que of traffic when I got hit, a position every driver is in every time they drive! All we all then higher risk - they eventually backed down after a "heated" discussion.

Just had a call from A-Plan, her insurance company, and luckily mine too

They appear to be brilliant.

They have said that because she has been in and admitted total liability and that we are both with A-Plan they will waiver my £300 excess and it will NOT effect my renewal when it comes around, I have this in an email to confirm.

They are arranging for the car to be collected ( from some garage in Poole) and Enterprise to deliver me a similar sized car.

At the moment it all looks good

Big Thumbs Up to A-Plan and lucky we are both with them

Good result Thumbs Up

And just as well you haven't gone down the route of hiding it from your insurers. Could have ended up with egg on your face come renewal time Embarassed

Your lucky, the few times I've been hit by other drivers I've been loaded at renewal even though 100% the other drivers fault and paid out.

Good result!
