It does look very different. I can't make my mind up whether the 5 looks odd, or the 4 looks dated.
Still, I find the 4 pleasing to the eye. I'm not accustomed to the 5 yet.

My word, They both look odd... Great photo for comparison, the D5 maybe a tad closer, i'm trying to judge by the white lines? if they are marked in the same place in each lane then the 5 maybe just shy of a vehicles length closer.
The D4 in my opinion looks dated straight away, The D5? looks the part on road at least, i'm not commenting on the off set thingy in this thread... i can kind of see a similarity and kind of see some updating going on. the front Yes, the side thing C Pillar NO because it looks like a DS but at the same time YES because it looks like a Foed Explorer.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I think its the horizontal lights being high up thats throwing me. If they were vertical like the D4 it might look better proportioned. It will grow no doubt about it, time heals MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

If traveling at more than 60mph the D5 would have lowered itself to reduce wind resistance/ noise.Peter

I think that's it - I was looking at it and couldn't quite work out why I was so offended, but if I picture the lights in the vertical, it looks a lot better. (But that's in my head which is perhaps not a great place to be at 8am )

I just don't get that off set number plate. Looks ok on the D4 with it's curvy split tailgate, just looks odd on the D5

It definitely needs something to break it up, if I think hard enough I could see a spare wheel offset to the right. Would need the door to swing like the d2 but that wouldn't be a bad thing given the size of it.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

The D4 is instantly recognisable by it's unique design. The D5 could be from any number of manufacturers.
I'm set in my (old) ways, but I still prefer the D3/D4 shape. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE
gvif with reversing camera
V8 brakes with new EPB module and shoes
Later D4 grille
Alive tuning remap
Mazda MX5
Ferguson ted20 tractor
Hyundai Getz 1.4 (wife's )
That close-up, with the vertical lines and the shadows below the rear window, give the D5 quite a curvy look.
