Differential oils for towing.
Good evening all. I apologise in advance as I'm sure some where this may have been covered but I have looked and struggled to find it on here and google.
I tow a caravan a good few times a year. It's massive and heavy. I have previously owned various towing vehicles and nearly always had to add an additive to the rear diff to prevent shudder.
I have recently brought a 06 se that is amazing and has been reasonably well looked after but I want to change the front and back diff oils and transfer case. Gearbox was done last year. This is really for peace of mind. Now I've read numerous posts about what to use but just asking anyone that tows regularly what fluids you have used and have you needed to add a additive to assist with towing ??
Or is the reply I'm dreading - main dealer fluids only ???
Again apologies if this has been covered I did actually have a good look.
Thanks for the help and thanks for helping me make up my mind about my new purchase.
Paul

I tow all the time with mine for work. No need for any additives, but I do change regularly - every 40,000 which works out at 12months.. New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!
