Off road ability of the car was never in doubt, the Discovery always has and always will be a class leader in this respect.
Also interior comfort and quality is head and shoulders above the D4 IMO, that's one thing I did like when I viewed it at the dealers. Still not sure about its overall shape though.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I've got to admit that in some of those shots from above on the ledge coming towards and going away from camera shot it actually looked like a Disco. I do like it. A Lot.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Is it the looks or the packaging you don't like when you say the "overall shape"?
Surely, in any practical vehicle, the looks come right at the bottom of the list of attributes one considers when buying it.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It doesn't look horrible, it just looks out of proportion in some areas but it's not a deal breaker as it does what I need it to do 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Capability has never been in doubt. Its the poor packaging, daft pricing and the fact that its morphed into an anonymous EuroKorean jelly mold that has put me off.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

But just like every other "jelly mould", almost every D5 will just be doing the school run or commute...All that ability will be wasted. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Maybe, but the capability this jelly mould has will never really be utilised. Yes I know you can say that about the D3/4, but that vehicle appealed to a larger and more diverse market where off road ability was needed. The fact that there is no Commercial model confirms where LR see the D5.
You're not going to need this capability in Chelsea or doing the shopping in Waitrose.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
