What about the diesel ban? How do you feel about buying a new car with an old propulsion system?
There's talk of diesel being banned.

On the other diesel thread I'm being told the EU6 spec isn't good enough and they will also be banned.

Maybe, but the capability this jelly mould has will never really be utilised. Yes I know you can say that about the D3/4, but that vehicle appealed to a larger and more diverse market where off road ability was needed. The fact that there is no Commercial model confirms where LR see the D5.

You're not going to need this capability in Chelsea or doing the shopping in Waitrose.

Have you seen the size of the potholes in Waitrose car park?

I personally will sleep easy, I've no need to take my Disco anywhere near a city, though diesel will never be banned completely, we will have to pay more to run it.

What do we do with all the abandoned diesel cars, if we all switch to petrol or hybrid/EV?

Wheel size and tyres will be a contributing factor to the D5's off road ability in the UK.

We know how capable the latest FFRR is off road, but on massive rims with rubber band road tyres you'll not get far on many UK off road scenarios without getting stuck or damaging the rims/tyres. As recently witnessed by myself on a private track on Exmoor. Whistle

Also interior comfort and quality is head and shoulders above the D4 IMO, that's one thing I did like when I viewed it at the dealers. Still not sure about its overall shape though.

Is it the looks or the packaging you don't like when you say the "overall shape"?

Surely, in any practical vehicle, the looks come right at the bottom of the list of attributes one considers when buying it.

I wouldn't spend the sort of money Land Rover charge if I didn't like the look of it.

My main priorities are 7 seats, comfortable on road ability and good off road ability. The D5 will have those attributes in spades I'm sure. But I just don't like the look of it, so I won't buy one.

My one is coming with standard 19" rims, I think HSE has 20" as standard as per current car.

Which is why the OE 20" rims on my Landmark were removed and replaced with 19"s. Laughing

What's the OE size tyre for the D5 19" rim?

Wheels and tyres in the videos look standard to me, whilst coping with the conditions ok.

Re Tyre size:
Looks like standard 20" D5 wheel, but looking closely seems to have a less lower profile tyre than a D4 20" wheel?

What does it look like to the tyre experts?

Not looking good for my compomotive PD1881QB 's Sad

Edit: Trying to say the overall diameter of wheels looks to be different between D4 & D5

Road tyres are best on rocky terrain (IMO). Presumably because less aggressive tread patterns put more rubber in contact with the surface. However, that type of terrain could "pinch" the sidewalls on low profile tyres. Thumbs Up

They just make the best of everything they have.
