Mines almost 1 1/2, only just broke 6,500mls never had a problem with DPF.

DPF or not, only short trips where the engine doesn't get up to operating temperature or where the engine never has a chance to stretch it's legs are just plain bad. Things will get damp. Things will clog up. MPG will be dire. Battery life will plummet.

To be honest, this is the case with pretty much any diesel engine and to an extent, petrol engines too. If the local supermarket and the kids school is only a mile or two away in town type traffic, then you need to either ensure that the weekend plans involve a good run, or buy a town car for that work.
